SCAFFOLDING CLAMP LOAD CAPACITY

Scaffold couplers are essentially the fundamental component that is used to assemble tube-and-coupler scaffolding. Tube-and-coupler scaffolding is defined as ‘a scaffold in which individual circular tubes serving as standards, braces or ties are joined together by means of purpose-designed couplers’.

This basic fitting that is designed to join two scaffold tubes can be used to create a diverse range of scaffolding structures or used as an accessory to prefabricate scaffolding systems.

This manual includes basic types of scaffold couplers which join two tubes together as well as special couplers used to connect scaffold tube to other components, equipment or structures. scaffolding clamp load capacity.

DOUBLE COUPLER LOAD CAPACITY: –

Double Coupler Fixed Clamp
Double Coupler Fixed Clamp
  • Joins two scaffold tubes having an outside diameter of 48.3mm at right angles.
  • Tightening nuts suit standard Scaffold Spanner (23mm A/F).
  • Replaceable ‘T’ bolts, nuts and washers.
  • Robust design made from drop forged steel or Pressed Steel for durability and reliability.
  • Hot-dip galvanized finish for corrosion resistance.
  • The typical working load limit of 6.25kN (637.32 KGF) against slip at tightening torque of 54 Nm.
  • It can be used to resist tension or compression loads.

SWIVEL COUPLER LOAD CAPACITY:-

  • Joins a scaffold tube having an outside diameter of 48.3mm at any angle.
  • Each half of the Coupler is interconnected with a swivel pin.
  • Typically used for connecting bracing members. Also used for tension splicing of scaffold tubes.
  • Tightening nuts suit standard Scaffold Spanner (23mm A/F).
  • Replaceable ‘T’ bolts, nuts, and washers.
  • Robust design made from drop forged steel or Pressed Steel for durability and reliability.
  • Hot-dip galvanized finish for corrosion resistance.
  • WLL = 6.25 kN (637.32 KGF) against slip at tightening torque of 54 Nm.
  • It can be used to resist tension or compression loads in bracing.

EXPENDING JOINT PIN LOAD CAPACITY: –

  • Joins 48 O.D. scaffold tube standards end to end internally.
  • Fits inside scaffold tubes.
  • Expands to fit the internal diameter of the scaffold tube when bolt tightened.
  • Tightening bolt suits standard Scaffold Spanner (23mm A/F).
  • Made from forged steel.
  • Hot-dip galvanized finish.
  • Under compression loading, this Joint Pin is capable of taking the full capacity of the scaffold tube.
  • Not to be used for tension loads. Under tension loading, it is necessary to splice the joint with another scaffold tube and Swivel Couplers (tension load check required).
  • This Joint Pin must only be used to join the scaffold tube with the same internal diameter, the same wall thickness.

EXTERNAL SWIVEL COUPLER LOAD CAPACITY: –

  • Joins 48 O.D. scaffold tubes end to end externally.
  • Used for an end-to-end joining of scaffold tube standards.
  • Locates on the outside diameter of scaffold tube members.
  • Tightening bolt suits standard Scaffold Spanner.
  • Made from high-quality pressed steel.
  • Hot-dip galvanized finish.
  • Under compression loading, this Coupler is capable of taking the full capacity of the scaffold tube.
  • Not to be used for tension loads. Under tension loading, it is necessary to splice the joint with another scaffold tube and Swivel Couplers (tension load check required).
  • This Coupler must only be used to join the scaffold tube with the same external diameter.

BOARD CLAMP LOAD CAPACITY:-

  • Retains timber scaffold planks to 48 O.D. putlog/ transom tubes.
  • Suitable for plank thickness range of 35 to 38mm.

PUTLOG COUPLER LOAD CAPACITY: –

  • Joins 48 O.D. scaffold tubes at right angles.
  • Used for fixing putlog tubes onto ledger tubes.
  • Tightening nut suits standard Scaffold Spanner (23mm A/F).
  • Replaceable ‘T’ bolt, nut and washer.
  • Pressed steel faps and drop-forged steel cap.
  • Hot-dip galvanized finish for corrosion resistance.
  • Typically used for securing guardrails and mid-rails at right angles to standards. Other uses can distort the coupler so that tube retention is not effective and WLL does not apply.
  • Not to be used for connecting putlog tubes to ledger tubes in tube-and-coupler scaffolding.
  • Only use Right Angle Couplers for this purpose.
  • WLL = 0.62 kN (63.2224 KGF) against the slip of tube through faps of coupler at tightening torque of 54 Nm.

BEAM CLAMP LOAD CAPACITY

load capacity of beam clamp

  • Material – Steel
  • Size/Capacity – 20 lbs/ft (9.07185 Kg/ft)
  • Uniform Load Rating – 6250 lbs (2834.952 kg)
  • Slip Rating – 4900 lbs (2222.603 Kg)

How to calculate scaffolding load capacity:

Scaffolding classes, duties, and dimensions

Types of scaffolding load

  • Dead load
  • Live load
  • Static load
  • Dynamic load
  • Wind load
  • Environmental load

How to calculate DEAD load of scaffolding

Example of Dead load calculation of scaffolding

Scaffolding Pipe/tube weight 4.5 kg per meter as per BS EN 39:2001

1×3m standard = 14 kg.

1× Screw jack = 05 kg.

4× Ledgers 40 kg ÷  2 = 20 kg.

4× Transoms =32 kg ÷ 2 = 16 kg.

1× Face brace = 18 kg ÷ 2 =9 kg.

1× End brace = 10 kg ÷ 2 = 5 kg

5× 2.4m planks = 100 kg ÷ 4 = 25 kg

TOTAL = 94 kg. (Dead load)

How to calculate Live load of scaffolding

Light duty ScaffoldMedium duty ScaffoldHeavy-duty Scaffold
225 kg/m2450kg/m2675 kg/m2

Live load = Workers weight + tools weight + materials weight.

SWL (safe workload of scaffolding)= D + (4 × L)

D= Dead load

L= Live load

Scaffolding bag weight capacity

Scaffolding bag used for scaffolding materials lifting, ground to elevation. Most scaffolding bags are made from canvas, it is very useful for lifting scaffolding components and scaffolding spanners.

The capacity of scaffolding bag– (SWL of Scaffolding Bag) – 30 Kg to 50 Kg. subject to scaffolding bag physical condition.
