BPCL REFINERY FIRE
A fire broke out near the tank wagon gantry of BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited) Kochi oil refinery. So far there has been no major loss according to officials. But if the fire had not been controlled, a very bad accident could have happened.
The fire broke out at around 2:30 PM on Wednesday. The fire was completely extinguished by 5 o’clock. There were no casualties. Official Said the root cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
It took two and a half hours to completely extinguish the fire. 100 Fire and Rescue Services personnel and 25 fire tenders involved.
District Fire Officer A S Joji… He said Fire and Rescue Services personnel have been deployed in the area as the leakage occurred in one of the main fuel pipelines.
