- The managers, supervisors and workmen should possess unquestionable expertise.
Accountability is another prerequisite of a successful management system. Any drawback on these two counts i.e. expertise and accountability will mar the possibility of a sound and foolproof industrial safety management. - Identification and location of defect in the operational system is another important consideration. A defective operational system can trigger of accidents. Hence monitoring of the various procedures and controls as well as taking suitable remedial and corrective measures at the right moment form the backbone of a successful safety management program.
- Conditions which can cause serious accidents or major hazard must be identified and located by proper forecasting. Necessary checks and controls must be adopted in this regard.
- Industrial safety movement is similar to the management of other industrial problems. Hence safety targets are to be set and defined by the management by proper identification of the relevant problems coupled with proper planning and control methods.
- A defective management system is characterized by improper working conditions, snags in the existing acts and frequency of accidents. Hence a proper safety management programme must envisage that the stipulations of the existing acts (along with their revisions) and the view of the experts (medical experts, safety engineers etc.) must be duly incorporated in the management programmes.
